The LED4CROPS research centre is focused on improving our understanding of crop light requirements with the aim of helping growers make the best use of advances in lighting systems, glass and spectral filters. We are leading the drive for the sustainable intensification and year round production of local high quality fresh produce via urban farming.
The first LED4CROPS facility, a multi-tiered LED lit urban farm, was opened in 2012. The LED4CROPS High-Wire facility was opened in 2014 to examine the use of LED lighting systems for year-round production of crops like tomato, pepper and cucumbers. Combined with the existing glasshouses and polytunnels at Stockbridge Technology Centre we have the facilities to perform trials relevant to all sectors of the horticulture industry. For more information about our facilities click here.
If you have a question about crop lighting we can help.
We provide a range of commercial servicesfrom the development of bespoke LED light regimes through to onsite light assessment and consultancy to help growers gain the best results from their light environment.
The Stockbridge Technology Centre (STC) was launched in April 2001 to ensure continued technological developments for the horticultural industry. This grower-led initiative has created an independent horticultural centre of excellence supported by both the production and supply sectors of the industry.
